Why choose Hands Together Piano Studio?

Home

There are many piano studios offering classical piano lessons. What is unique about me (Cheryl Woodford) and Hands Together Piano Studio?

I am a dedicated, gifted, full time teacher, with a lifetime of experience playing and teaching piano. I have taken lessons most of my life and always strive to play and teach better. My style is down to earth, flexible and challenging. I want students to enjoy lessons and the songs they are learning, so they will stick with piano and have all the benefits that playing piano brings. The greatest feeling is when my students leave their lessons smiling! I want to teach my students everything they need to know to be great piano players and to be able to play whatever they like. I always give choices of songs to learn. I am happy to help with any music that students need to learn for school or church. I love when students talk to me and ask questions!

I request that parents attend lessons for the first few years so they will know how their child is supposed to practice at home. Parents are welcome to video the lessons as well. Learning piano is like a 3-legged stool. It requires a willing student, a compatible teacher, and very supportive parents.
Besides loving piano, my specific goals for students are to read music fluently, to play easily with great technique, to have a good understanding of music theory, to play songs they love, and to be comfortable playing for others.

One of my former students is now a full time piano teacher. Another had a lead role this year in her high school musical and received a full scholarship to study music education at college. One sings in the Keystone State Boys Choir. Many students play additional instruments – violin, saxophone, drums, flute, and ukelele. I teach many adult students. Many have come back to piano after playing as a child, and many have started from scratch, even in their 50’s and 60’s. My youngest student now is about 6 and my oldest about 70. The youngest student I ever taught was 3 and the oldest was 85.
